Statement (Artist Statement)

It is a presentation text that communicates who you are as an artist and what characterizes your work.

Its function is to explain your current artistic practice to a broader audience: curators, gallerists, jurors, or viewers.

It usually includes:

Your motivations and recurring themes.

How you work (materials, processes, approaches).

What you aim to convey or explore.

 It is more narrative and communicative, meant to accompany your portfolio or exhibition.

 Conceptual Statement

It is a more reflective and analytical text, focused on a specific work or project.

It explains the conceptual process behind the work: how the idea arose, what theoretical or visual references are present, what decisions you made and why.

 It is deeper and more argumentative, and it is used in academic contexts, grants, or curatorial projects.
